meet the face behind the art

I am an artist based in rural Ontario who focuses on producing paintings and digital art. Growing up in the country outside of a small town, with only the forest around our home, a dead end dirt road and limited screen time, I needed to find inventive ways to pass the time. This, combined with creative parents who encouraged me towards following my imagination, had me looking towards cartoons and comics.

From a very young age I was fascinated with art and animation. I would try to recreate the dogs from 101 Dalmatians or characters from The Sabrina the Teenage Witch and The Archies comics. I would draw all day and on most surfaces that I could (sorry Mom and Dad!).

Then, once I started high school I was introduced to the world of animation and my interest in drawing grew. During this time I also began taking art classes where I learned about fine arts. With an inspirational visual arts teacher educating me, I discovered a love for painting and slowly began building up my skills in this new medium, spending most of my time in acrylics but also learning watercolour and oil techniques.

 

Over the years my style of art has evolved from attempting to mimic existing characters and art, to where I'm now creating my own. I am very passionate about the creative process and further exploring in both the digital and traditional formats.
